Peace Love and Philly Forever

We are moving to the burbs! Yep, it’s happening. My husband grew up in Northern Liberties and I have been a Philadelphia resident since 2001! ONWARD to the burbs we go… first a pit stop in Margate, NJ for the entire summer :) as we wait until our new home in Media is built.

One of the things I loved most about living in the city, is the restaurant scene. We have the best food in Philly. And while I love being in my kitchen and cooking, my inspiration usually comes from places I’ve traveled and restaurants I’ve been to.

I’m feeling nostalgic about my city so here is a list of my favorite restaurants. What are some of yours?

  • Fiorella: My husband and I have probably eaten here over a dozen times. It’s our go-to neighborhood restaurant. Their Cacio e Pepe is our fav!

  • Vernick: Love eating in their bar area!

  • Continental Midtown: A Rittenhouse Institution at this point am I right? Their salads are beyond. I also love their Pad Thai, omelettes, and avocado toast.

  • Royal Izakaya for sushi. Great bar and sushi. Well worth the hour you may have to wait to get in!

  • The Love: I love their little bar :) Their brunch is delicious.

  • Dandelion: FUN FACT: Josh and I had our first date here. He now has a tattoo on his left arm of a Dandelion 😳 lol

  • Abe Fisher: we do all of our big celebrations here :) it’s a special place for us :) I love the decor, the cocktails, the food and the service is impeccable!!!!

  • Mercado: 2 words- Stuffed Artichokes. If you know; you know ;) AND, I had my 40th birthday party here!

  • Buddakan - I have so many memories at Buddukan! From celebrating my grandparents 50th anniversary to Sunday Funday’s with my friends and Sunday nights with my husband. The best of the best.

  • Burrata: Another one of our neighborhood spots :) it’s BYOB and the owners and servers are so nice! The food is delicious and at a great price point.

  • Bing Bing: yes yes

  • Suraya for ambiance and food!

  • Double knot: Best happy hour in the city! And their sushi chefs tasting downstairs is OUT OF THIS WORLD.

  • Little Fish: another neighborhood BYOB. A splurge and so worth it for a special occasion.

  • Dizengoff and Goldie for Hummus and Falafel.

When people ask me what my favorite restaurant in philly is, it honestly stumps me. We are spoiled with the food scene here. That said, I hear Media has some great places too- I’ll report back on that when I’ve had a chance to try for myself!
